THE STEAK KNIFE ON HARRISON

I have never had a bad meal at The Steak Knife. Nor have I ever felt unwelcome or ignored. This family owned neighborhood restaurant is underrated in my opinion. The chef knows how to cook your steak to order, the way you like it, no judgments! Drinks are done right and generously. The onion rings are superb. And the fish is super fresh and expertly cooked. The menu is not so diverse as to be confusing: this is top notch steak and seafood. If you’re not in the mood for steak, have the Fish Robert, especially if they have puppy drum. I always order the Seraphine Salad, nibble on it with my drink and then box up the rest for the next day’s lunch. The action at the bar is lively but you can still have a quiet conversation in the dining room where the lighting is flattering for women of a certain age. If you want to take your own bottle of wine, the corkage charge is reasonable and no one grumbles. And be sure to wear flat shoes because in true New Orleans fashion, the floor is so slanty you risk falling down in certain spots. Gotta love that.

AND DO NOT FORGET THE BRANDY ALEXANDER FOR DESSERT! IT IS SOOOOO GOOD!
